Our Mission

We will work with each student to prepare for high school while setting high standards for moral character in a safe and orderly environment.

Our History

Brinkley Middle School is located in North Jackson in the heart of the Medgar Evers Historic Neighborhood District. The late Margaret Walker Alexander, author of the Civil War novel, Jubliee, and the classic poem, "For My People," was Professor Emerita of English at Jackson State University as well as a neighborhood resident.

History:
Sam M. Brinkley Middle School was established in 1966. It was named for Samuel Manuel Brinkley (1878 - 1946). He was an outstanding African American educator. Samuel M. Brinkley served as teaching principal of Hill School, the first organized junior high school program for African American students in the Jackson Public Schools.
